The study of the link between engineering, and management. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the foundations of engineering management. Topics covered include the concept of engineering management, its relationship to engineering, and its historical underpinnings, the traditional roles of management with particular emphasis on leadership skills. The course examines the difference between managerial vs. leadership roles in organizational settings. Furthermore, attention is given to evaluating risk, and other organizational and administrative capabilities. The ethical dimensions of the organization and the engineering community are also explored.
